Colleen's Biography

I was born in Bogota, Colombia and have lived in Australia, Mexico, Peru and several cities in the United States. In the fall of 2015, my husband David and I relocated from Houston, TX to Pagosa Springs, Colorado where we share an art studio and work on our individual art pieces as well as collaboration pieces.

I am basically a self taught artist with art schooling from Miami Dade Community College and Rhode Island Community College. I have over 30 years of experience in the Art Framing and Art Consulting business.

My passion is  creating colored pencil drawings on antique and salvaged wood objects to give each piece a new life. Most of my images are that of the natural world of God’s magnificent creations. Each found object has its own individual shape, feel, smell, grain, color, and many times with hints of old paint, damage and stains from a past life that inspires me as to what image to choose to put on each unique object. Upon finishing each piece, many times the grain relates to the drawn image

in some form which I usually do not notice until the drawing is completed……serendipity.
